Crack Repair

A LASTING SOLUTION

Foundation Wall Crack Repair

When it comes to foundation wall crack repairs, EC Foundations employs a proven method that has been effective for over 30 years. Each of our crack repairs are completed on the exterior of the foundation wall with top quality materials and trusted workmanship.

At EC Foundations, we use Bituthene 3000 LT as our primary waterproofing membrane. Bituthene 3000 LT is a low-temperature, rubberized material that does not crack even in the coldest temperatures, ensuring your home’s foundation will remain 100% waterproofed.

Once the walls are waterproofed, we protect them with System Platon. This acts as both a secondary damp proofing membrane and a protection layer for our newly installed membrane. Finally, we conduct a water test on your weeping tile to ensure proper drainage before backfilling. For additional details on our crack repair methods, please contact our office.

Why Exterior Crack Repair Is the Best Choice
Unlike quick interior fixes that only mask the problem, exterior foundation crack repair tackles the issue at its source. By addressing the cracks from the outside, we prevent water from ever entering your basement—ensuring a longer-lasting solution and avoiding future water damage, mould, or structural issues.

Protecting Your Home and Property
A cracked foundation wall doesn’t just risk water entry—it can also impact the structural integrity of your home over time. Left unchecked, even small cracks can grow, especially with Ottawa’s freeze-thaw cycles. Our repair process not only restores your foundation but also protects your home’s value and long-term safety.

What to Expect During the Repair
Our team carefully excavates the affected area, minimizing disruption to your yard. After exposing the foundation wall, we thoroughly clean and inspect the crack before applying the membrane and protective layers. We ensure that every step meets our high standards for durability and workmanship.

Serving Ottawa Homeowners with Confidence
With decades of experience in Ottawa’s unique soil and climate conditions, EC Foundations has helped hundreds of homeowners resolve foundation issues with permanent, warrantied solutions. Our work is backed by years of expertise, and we’re proud to be a trusted name in foundation repair throughout the city and surrounding areas.

Foundation Wall Crack Repair FAQs

Why do foundation wall cracks need to be repaired from the outside?

Exterior repairs address the root cause of the leak by preventing water from reaching the interior in the first place. Interior fixes only mask the problem, while exterior crack repairs provide a long-term waterproofing solution.

What materials does EC Foundations use for crack repair?

We use Bituthene 3000 LT, a low-temperature, rubberized waterproofing membrane that remains flexible in Ottawa’s harsh climate. This is paired with System Platon, which adds extra protection and durability.

How do you protect the waterproofing membrane during backfilling?

After applying Bituthene 3000 LT, we cover it with System Platon—a dimpled membrane that acts as both a protective barrier and a secondary damp-proofing layer.

What’s involved in the foundation crack repair process?

We carefully excavate around the cracked area, clean and inspect the wall, apply waterproofing membranes, and test your weeping tile drainage system before backfilling the soil.

How do I know if my foundation crack is serious?

If you’re noticing water seepage, musty smells, or visible wall cracks—especially after rain—it’s time for a professional assessment. Even small cracks can grow and lead to structural damage if left untreated.
